Join Washington insider George Rogers JD, Vice President for Lobbying and Political Affairs at MBA, as he discusses recent legislative wins for the industry and the policy outlook ahead, as well as providing insights into the approaching midterms and what that may mean for 2027.  

Speaker Bio

 George Rogers is Vice President of Legislative Affairs. In this role, he is responsible for advocating on behalf of MBA's legislative and policy priorities on Capitol Hill, with a primary focus on Republican members of the United States Senate. Rogers is a strategic government affairs executive with 26 years of federal and state experience. With deep policy expertise, great government contacts, and expert procedural skills, George specializes in outmaneuvering the opposition.

Prior to rejoining MBA in 2023, Rogers was a multiclient lobbyist for a decade, including his work for MBA from 2016 to 2023. Prior to his corporate work, Rogers spent nearly fourteen years in key leadership roles in the U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives, including serving as a senior Policy Advisor and Counsel to the Speaker of the House and to the Minority Leader. Rogers also served as General Counsel of the Committee on Rules, as Oversight and Investigations Counsel for the Government Reform Committee, and as a Legislative Assistant to the Chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

Prior to DC, Rogers was the Deputy Chief Counsel for the Indiana State Senate leadership. Before that he was an attorney in private practice and a deputy prosecutor who founded the first Sex Crimes & Domestic Violence unit in his hometown. Outside of his professional ambitions, Rogers is passionate about karate. He is a 6th degree blackbelt and has a passion for scuba diving.

Macie Carney Bio

Macie is the Vice President of Marketing for Mississippi Home Corporation where she has been for eleven years. In that capacity, she is responsible for driving the marketing and branding strategies of Mississippi Home Corporation. Macie oversees promotional activities, coordinates grassroots initiatives, and educates the public on mortgage assistance, construction lending, and tax credit opportunities.

 

In previous roles with MHC Macie has worked with communities across the state on a regular basis through Realtor trainings and face-to-face visits with Lenders. She has delivered MHC program education, addressed outreach needs, and provided ongoing support to partners, counselors, developers, and city/government agencies.

 

Macie received her B.A. in Business Management from Mississippi State University in 2009. She was a member and served as President in the Junior Auxiliary of Rankin County. She currently is a member and served as the President for the Mississippi Mortgage Bankers Association. Macie and her husband, Daniel, have two children, Jase and Blaire.

Deshawn Davis Bio

DeShawn Davis serves as the 2026 President of Mississippi REALTORS®, as well as the Broker and Owner of The Davis Premier Group LLC REALTORS® in Hattiesburg, where he oversees residential, commercial, and property management operations.


A graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi, DeShawn began his real estate journey with Coldwell Banker Don Nace REALTORS®. Since then, he has become an active and respected leader within the Mississippi REALTOR® community. He has served as President, Vice President, and Treasurer of the Hattiesburg Area Association of REALTORS®, and in 2021 was named the local association’s REALTOR® of the Year.


At the state level, DeShawn has held numerous leadership roles with the Mississippi REALTORS®, chairing multiple committees and serving on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee. His roles have also included terms as Southern District Vice President, Treasurer, and First Vice President. In addition, he has served as Southern Vice President of the Mississippi Commercial Association of REALTORS®.


Nationally, he has represented Mississippi REALTORS® on the National Association of REALTORS® Member Communications Committee and MLS Committee for multiple years.


DeShawn has earned several professional certifications and endorsements, including the National Association of REALTORS® Pricing Strategy Advisor (PSA), ePRO®, and At Home With Diversity® certifications, along with the C2EX endorsement. His leadership and commitment have been recognized through honors such as MAR’s Under 40 Award and the Mississippi Business Journal’s Top 40 Under 40. He is also a 2021 graduate of LeadershipMAR.
Beyond his professional life, DeShawn is actively involved in his community and values giving back through local service and mentorship. He and his family reside in Hattiesburg, where they enjoy spending time together and staying engaged in community events and initiatives that strengthen the place they call home.

Stephanie Cummins Bio

Stephanie Cummins is a wife, mom, REALTOR®, and firm believer that life is better when you
stay busy doing things you love. She is married to Wally, a real estate appraiser, and they have
two boys—John Walter, 8, and Rowdy, 2—who keep life fun, loud, and always moving.


A proud graduate of Mississippi State University, Stephanie is co-owner and Associate Broker of
Front Gate Realty. She currently serves as President-Elect of Mississippi REALTORS® and was
honored as the 2025 REALTOR® of the Year.


Stephanie has a passion for leadership, serving her industry, and helping other REALTORS®
grow. She also loves teaching, spending time with her family, cheering on Mississippi State, and
her newest adventure—creating content for Cooking with the Cummins alongside Wally.


Whether she’s at a closing table, a REALTOR® meeting, a ballpark, or at home, chances are
she’s surrounded by people—and that’s exactly how she likes it.

Are You Smarter Than a Fraudster? is an interactive, quiz-based learning experience participants will test their knowledge across real-world mortgage fraud scenarios, current industry trends, and emerging schemes—while sharpening their ability to identify red flags, detect misrepresentation, and make confident underwriting decisions.

Through engaging questions and scenario-driven challenges, learners explore key topics including fraud for profit vs. property, business email compromise (BEC), wire fraud risks, fraudulent documentation, and income misrepresentation. The session reinforces critical best practices for reviewing loan files, evaluating inconsistencies, and applying common-sense judgment to combat fraud.

 

Designed for mortgage professionals, this experience strengthens fraud detection skills, promotes risk awareness, and equips participants with practical tools to protect lenders, borrowers, and the integrity of every transaction.

Speaker Bio

MaryKay Scully is the Director of Customer Education at Enact, where she leads the strategy and development of impactful training programs for mortgage professionals nationwide. In this role, she trains over 35,000 professionals annually on a wide range of topics, including tax return review, fraud detection, process improvement updates, and compliance navigation in an ever-evolving regulatory landscape.
 

With over three decades of experience at Enact (formerly GE/Genworth), MaryKay has held diverse leadership roles including E-Business Development Manager, Director of Organizational Effectiveness, and Service Center Manager. Her career began in the field as a Loan Officer across several Mid-Atlantic mortgage companies, giving her a deep understanding of the industry from the ground up.
 

MaryKay is a nationally recognized educator and speaker, known for her expertise in topics ranging from purchase transaction best practices to credit analysis. She holds an MBA from Fairfield University and is a graduate of the National School of Banking. Her credentials include a Six Sigma Functional Black Belt Certification, DiSC Behavioral Profiling Trainer certification, and previously held Series 7 and Series 63 licenses.

Her contributions to the industry have been recognized with the Mortgage Professional America Elite Women award in both 2017 and 2018. She also served as Chairman of the Mortgage Bankers Association of New Jersey Women’s Committee in 2019 and is a regular contributing writer for MBA Newslink.
